I had a dream.. and in this dream.. all creeds and colours were united..
Orks and Elfs skipped joyfully through purple tree'd forests..
Humans farmed for fish, fruit and grain peacefully..
Well.. Only if i could find a games engine .. easy enough for a noob.. powerful enough for an mmorpg.. I have crawled the internet.. and have found 2d / 3d / Freeware / Commercial / Open Sourceand the list goes on..
But do you think I could find one with a simple interface.. an understandable scripting or coding language?! Not one.. Most hopeful was a 2d engine called vbGore.. but the map editor.. sheesh.. what a confusing piece of software.. maps are made of tiles.. referenced by some mind bending co-ordinate system..
Gawd help me, I think im suffering brain melt..
My start button program list is spreading accross my screen like some creeping weed or fog through the numerous engines I have installed:
Torque 2d Engine Trial
Adventure Maker
3D Game Studio
vbGore
Sphere
Haaf's Game Engine
and more..
Im at a loss.. advice from anyone out there in blog land is always welcome..
Anyway.. here is basically what I want to achieve..
I Wish to create a 2d or 3d world, with large bubble headed chachters much like those of animal crossing, a peaceful land of animal farming, crop farming, moods and hunger, inteligence and strength, a place where one or many can wander for hours, without becoming bored of playing one game, with weeds growing daily for people to pluck up on their explorations to keep the place neat and tidy.. for the local NPC's..
I was once able to start a game on a chat base called Active Worlds.. world building was much like building with lego.. you would choose a model.. a wall for example.. place it down.. move it around.. add another.. then a door.. etc etc.. but works out expensive as you have to buy worlds.. the bigger the world.. the higher the price.. and not a one off price either.. pffft.. NPCs are connected similar to the clients.. for the most part this is great.. until the bot software crashes.. or become disconnected from the server.. not ideal..
Soooo anyone with any ideas? lol
Okay.. rant over..
Byeee....
